More Gratitude

The yearlong recovery from the pandemic never happened. We had another surge, another variant, then another. The Covid Booster today finalized for me the second Covid year. Then May the pelvic ultrasound showed more endometrial thickening: rare and abnormal. While Friends and Family were planning an outdoor hike or picnic, I wrestled with how to deal with Cancer, with the capital C. It wasn’t fun, and I had to do it alone. It was my body alone: my medical decisions were my alone. There was no time out and about: in my room, I prayed, wrote, walked the atrium. Witnessing so many changes, staffing shortages, even deaths made me feel numb at times. Then thoughts of my body battling cancer, I wondered if I would survive. I was barely managing Covid restrictions in my room, not to mention a cancer battle. My spirits kept alive with two things: my passion for saving a wildlife species and Zooming every Sunday with a downtown small church.

Today is December 14, 2021. Some of my yearlong burdens lifted by completing the task at hand. The good news on No Cancer! Welcomed back some sanity and health. That was moments of gratitude. Today was the final Covid Booster shot I needed, as others vaccinated, to complete the series which began in January of this long year saga. What’s next?

Surprise.
