The Comfort of Solace

Packing and unpacking your life

in Banker’s Boxes, Suitcases. Wardrobes.

Carries an unpunishable burden for one,

for others later on, when I am gone,

seems like a penalty for a lost letter or two.

The stuff, the possessions, the gifts, the artifacts

all bring to the memory the good times the sad times

we need to let go.

Letting go in life is one process, — in our passing

the burden is punishable on the living.

The survivors remember, outlive the artifacts.

For now,  the comfort is in the solace. Alone.
